ICEE, ICOM-SA and the S.A. Apartheid Museum welcome you to attend the 31st Annual Conference of the International Committee for Exhibitions and Exchange, as well as the Workshop: Exhibition Exchange Futures for South Africa.
ICEE and ICOM-SA invite exhibition professionals from around the world to join us in November in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference will take you on a unique tour through the iconic city of Cape Town, the "Mother City" as South Africans like to call it, which has a rich and diverse museum culture.
Through this year's conference theme "Get Connected! New Markets, Audiences, and Perspectives in Exhibition Exchange" the International Committee for Exhibitions and Exchange and the South African Museums will provide opportunities for exhibition professionals around the world to exchange ideas, address challenges and best practices concerning the development of new markets, new audiences and new perspectives in the world of touring exhibitions. Our 2015 conference programme will feature thought provoking keynotes, inspiring conference sessions, and behind-the-scenes tours and will also include the ever-popular Market Place of Exhibitions and Ideas.
Through the Workshop Exhibition Exchange Futures for South Africa, ICOM South Africa and the South African Museums Association will bring together fertile sources for the development of exhibitions and foster prospective relationships for exhibition exchanges locally and internationally.
While the formal part of the conference and workshop takes place that the Martin Melck House and District Six Museum in the city center, a number of city museums are opening their doors to welcome delegates. The conference includes visits to the SA Jewish Museum, the Cape Town Holocaust Centre, Iziko Museums of South Africa and the Castle of Good Hope. We will also travel to the Cape Winelands to visit Solms Delta near Franschhoek and the Rupert Art Museum in Stellenbosch. Post Conference excursions include the archaeological and palaeontological sites on the West Coast and a visit to Sutherland, the home of an international astronomy programme.
